What is a PA Piercing and Q&A
Body modification has been a cultural practice for centuries, and piercings are among the most popular forms of expression. One of the more intriguing piercings for men is the Prince Albert (PA) piercing. Named after Prince Albert, the consort of Queen Victoria, this piercing has a fascinating history and is still a popular choice today for aesthetic, functional, and personal reasons. Let’s dive into what a PA piercing is, how it’s done, and why so many men choose to get one.
What is a PA Piercing?
A Prince Albert piercing is a type of male genital piercing that goes through the underside of the penis. Specifically, the piercing is placed through the urethra and exits just below the glans (the head of the penis). The jewelry typically used for a PA piercing is a curved barbell or a circular ring, and the gauge can vary depending on the individual’s anatomy and preferences.
The PA piercing is considered one of the most common and relatively straightforward genital piercings for men. While it may sound intimidating, many men report that it heals quickly and enhances their overall experience in a variety of ways.
How is a PA Piercing Done?
The process of getting a PA piercing is precise and should always be done by a professional piercer who specializes in genital piercings. Here’s what to expect:
Consultation: The piercer will discuss your anatomy, jewelry options, and any questions or concerns you might have.
Preparation: The area is cleaned and sterilized to minimize the risk of infection.
Marking: The piercer will mark the entry and exit points to ensure the placement is correct.
Piercing: A hollow needle is used to create the hole, and the jewelry is immediately inserted.
Aftercare Instructions: The piercer will provide detailed aftercare guidelines to help ensure proper healing.
Most men describe the process as quick, with a sharp but brief pain during the piercing itself. Healing typically takes about 4 - 6 weeks, though it can vary based on individual healing factors.
Why Do Guys Get a PA Piercing?
There are several reasons why men choose to get a PA piercing. These can range from aesthetic preferences to functional benefits:
1. Enhanced Sensation
For many men, a PA piercing can heighten sensitivity and enhance pleasure during sexual activity. The jewelry stimulates the glans and the partner’s internal areas, making the experience more exciting for both parties.
2. Aesthetic Appeal
A PA piercing can be a bold and unique way to express one’s individuality. The jewelry adds an element of intrigue and can boost confidence by making the wearer feel more attractive or adventurous.
3. Cultural and Personal Expression
For some, getting a PA piercing is a form of cultural or personal identity. It can signify rebellion, creativity, or alignment with a specific subculture or lifestyle.
4. Functional Benefits
Some men find that a PA piercing can improve urinary flow or even address certain anatomical issues, though this is less common and should not be the primary reason for getting the piercing.
5. BDSM and Kink Dynamics
In the BDSM and kink community, a PA piercing can be a symbol of submission or dominance. It can also be a functional addition for chastity play or other forms of sexual exploration.
Things to Consider Before Getting a PA Piercing
While a PA piercing has many benefits, there are a few important factors to consider:
Pain Tolerance: Everyone’s pain threshold is different, but most people find the procedure manageable.
Healing Time: Healing requires proper care and patience to avoid complications.
Jewelry Maintenance: Regular cleaning and occasional resizing of the jewelry may be necessary as the piercing matures.
Sexual Activity: You may need to abstain from sexual activity during the initial healing phase to prevent irritation or infection.
Professional Piercer: Always choose a reputable piercer with experience in genital piercings to ensure safety and proper placement.
We interviewed two guys who have PA's here is what they said:

What inspired you to get a PA piercing, and was it something you planned for a long time or decided on spontaneously?
I saw it in porn. Was super curious about and did research for about 5 years. Spoke to everyone that would answer my questions, read blogposts about it, I wanted to know as much as possible. Finally I decided I am going to take the leap and commit.
How did you find the experience of getting the piercing done? Were there any surprises about the process?
I had a super pleasant experience. The piercer i went to is great! Biggest surprise I had was that is REALLY didn’t hurt.
What was the healing process like for you, and did you face any challenges or unexpected benefits during that time?
I was quite a long one. I wanted the bar to start with and after a little while we realised it is not the right shape jewellery for my anatomy. This delayed the process a bit, after that I switched to a CBR ( Closed ball ring) and the size was a bit big. Finally we decided to try the smaller ring and the final healing after that was almost instantaneous. My piercer also told me from the beginning, this is not like an earring where you just put the jewellery in and you’re done. You need to find the right jewellery for your body.
How has having a PA piercing impacted your confidence, personal style, or sense of identity?
I have gained so much confidence. It is something I keep very private so my style hasn’t really changed but my overall confidence has increased so much, even my confidence being naked has also increased.
Have you noticed any changes in terms of sensation since getting the piercing? If so, how has it affected your experiences?
The amount of added sensation is probably one of the biggest surprises. I never realised that a PA would do that. Being uncut the frenulum has always had good sensation, now with the PA the sensation has increased a lot, with or without the jewellery in.
What advice would you give to someone considering a PA piercing, especially if they’re nervous or uncertain?
Do research! Speak to as many guys as you can. Nervous is normal, in my experience, this is not something you do if you are uncertain. Rather take your time, do the research and be sure.
I was lucky enough to meet up with someone I knew also had one, he allowed me to look and touch and see it in person and that was the best thing I did. It made me so sure that this is what I want.

What inspired you to get a PA piercing, and was it something you planned for a long time or decided on spontaneously?
The inspiration for wanting a PA probably came from the many profiles I’ve seen on X of guys having one, the YouTube videos I watched about the subject and my personal feelings about getting a PA. I have wanted a PA for many years but never pushed myself to go get one.
How did you find the experience of getting the piercing done? Were there any surprises about the process?
I found my personal experience very easy with all the research I did beforehand. Choosing a good piercing location, jewelry choice and asking lots of questions is why I had a good experience getting mine. I found no surprises with how much research I did beforehand. The other part is the receiving tube was more uncomfortable than the needle going in, which I didn’t feel. Plus I did bleed a bit when I got home but hardly the next day. I used diaper stuffers to catch in blood or leaking fluids with my underwear on over that. I did that day and night for up to 5 days so my underwear would not be ruined.
What was the healing process like for you, and did you face any challenges or unexpected benefits during that time?
Healing for me was very easy and had no issues. The research I did beforehand and the questions I asked while at the location helped a lot. Being hydrated does help with healing and clean the PA as directed. I was a fast healer so it did not take as long to heal as I thought. Also I got mine right as I was starting a vacation week so that is something I would avoid in the future plus how often I was moving things around because any pressure caused pain for a few weeks. The nice benefit was I couldn’t JO for a few weeks so that helped. With healing you are or should not be in any body of water for 6 months minimum as it can be an open wound for that time frame. It might look healed but they heal from outside to inside so takes awhile.
How has having a PA piercing impacted your confidence, personal style, or sense of identity?
The PA piercing has made me more confident on who I am on expressing myself and putting myself out there on X. The PA has shown me that it’s part of me that was missing and helps me achieve my other goals that I’m working towards. This also has allowed me to explore the kink I like which is chastity and able to put both on myself at the same time.
Have you noticed any changes in terms of sensation since getting the piercing? If so, how has it affected your experiences?
Sensation for me has increased a lot because we are mostly not use to feeling anything moving around in our urethra and with that movement it made things a lot more interesting and intense when orgasms happened. I know it could be temporary but have enjoyed it a lot.
What advice would you give to someone considering a PA piercing, especially if they’re nervous or uncertain?
Things to consider when getting or thinking of getting a PA are that you most likely be sitting to piss going forward. If you don’t it could be very messy, spraying everywhere. You will not be able to do anything sexually for a few weeks. Have to clean it as directed. But there is a few things on the positive. Your orgasms or when jerk off might feel better, if your into chastity, it can be locked on with your cage depending on which chastity cage you have, After a time this piercing self stretches so can upsize over time. I also recommend doing your research. Check out shops, ask lots of questions and ask others about their experience. The worse thing you want is an infection down there.
Conclusion
A Prince Albert piercing is a bold and meaningful choice for many men. Whether it’s about enhancing sensation, making a personal statement, or exploring new dimensions of intimacy, the PA piercing holds a unique appeal. As with any body modification, it’s essential to research, consult with professionals, and carefully consider your reasons before taking the plunge. If you’re ready to make a statement and experience the benefits firsthand, a PA piercing might just be the perfect choice for you.
